#72- Try out for a reality/game show.

Yesterday, August 27th, 2011 Adrielle and I headed out on a whirlwind adventure at the bright (actually not so, the sun was barely up) and early time of 6:30am. Our destination? The Citadel Outlet Mall of Los Angeles, California. Our reasoning? Well, though the deals were surely great at the ye ol'Citadel, we were headed to the final casting call for the Biggest Loser season 13.

Yes, we were nervous. Yes, we know the odds were impossible. And yes, we would really be willing to leave our daily lives for 6 weeks of cussing, screaming, sweating boot camp style living. So we headed out in a sleep like state to drive the 2.5 hours to L.A. On the way, we discussed all the things that two Starbucks caffeinated friends would talk about, stopped a Trader Joes for a quick snackie, and thought about the tiny possibility of being chosen.

By the time we got to the Citadel our nerves we a little on high alert and so we drove through the parking lot like two people who live on nothing but giggling. That is until we remembered that we had forgotten to print off the pictures needed for our applications! This set our nervous energy into extremely high gear, but after a failed Wal-mart attempt and nearly punching two slow-moving photo printers at the instant print station, we secured our winning pics and headed back to the Citadel Outlets.

Joining the crowd of over 400 people we began an endurance challenge of standing in the blazing sun and trying to entertain ourselves and those lucky enough to be around us. We joked, laughed, filled out our applications, and played a round of what I'll call "Human Bingo," in which each player creates a list of lucky finds for the other player. The first to spot all the items on their list wins. In an large outdoor outlet mall in the epicenter of L.A. it is easy to find some characters. So to have a little fun Adrielle and I started playing. Our list included such items as: a mullet, tramp stamp, person riding a segway, bedazzled Ed Hardy shirt, 4 inch heals being worn, someone obviously pregnant, and a fanny pack.

By the time we were sufficiently sun burnt, sore, hungry, and had nearly found all the items on our respective Bingo list we had made it to the front of the line (and the shade!) and were ready for our group interviews. The very fit, tan, and blonde gal started having each of us share bits of our life stories. A mere 10 minutes later, we were done. Yep, that's it. Quick and dirty. Adrielle and I headed out looking for some food thankful that we tried and happy that it wasn't nearly as traumatic as we had dreamt up in our heads. In other words, other than 4.5 hours of standing in the sun there were no other demanding physical challenges, my nightmarish mind had simply overreacted. I mean the worst they could have done is say "no thanks." And well, that's just what they did.

Another bucket list item down. Another day of fun memories.
